Went to a&e for as evere asthma attack. From the security guard who saw me struggling in the queue to the nurses and doctors, everyone was polite and friendly but in a professional way. I was seen straight away and looked after very well. The a&e cubicle were clean and tidy. I know when I go there I will be looked after very well ( better than ste Mary)

Review of Dietetic general outpatients NPH/ CMH

My very positive response was given because I was so happy with the clear answers and instructions of the dietician Gabriela. She gave me all the needed time to explain and talk about my problems. She makes me feel very comfortable to talk about and help to understand my complicate issues.

Review of Dietetic diabetes outpatients NPH/ CMH
3rd October 2021

The dietician was articulate and clear. She came across as a nice person who seemed to want to help. We did have a nice conversation. She did not make any decisions about me or my care. Unfortunately the appointment itself was not that useful as it was too late after my first diagnosis and therefore I had already had to do my own research and try out different things. I didn't learn very much new from the appointment. It felt like the discussion led by the dietician was a tick box exercise, i.e. questions she had to answer and notes she had to make. The follow up notes to my GP also demonstrated this, noting that all the items listed were not actually fully discussed. I had gone to the appointment prepared, with a list of questions, which we did get through but for the majority I did not learn anything new. It was disappointing that when i asked questions specifically related to an Asian diet she was unable to answer, considering the large population of Asians at Northwick Park Hospital and the fact that people of Asian origin are at high risk of diabetes I would expect there to be some understanding of the demographic that is being treated. So overall though the conversation was pleasant, I did not gain much at all from it.

This first appointment with a dietician when someone is diagnosed with gestational diabetes needs to be much sooner. There is urgency in getting the right balance of diet and exercise and if this is not managed quickly decisions are made to start medication. This is as midwives are keen to react quickly especially as there are very few weeks between diagnosis and baby due date. So having this appointment 4 weeks after first diagnosis is too late.

Review of Respiratory Physiotherapy Clinic, NPH
29th September 2021

Having a respiratory issue during Covid, I have been absolutely amazed at the quality of care and attention I have received from all parts of the NHS - from Gemma's physio assistance, to lung function and blood tests and the attention of Dr Brown. This is at a time when they must be rushed off their feet but it never felt like that. Everybody took the time to help. I felt really cared for. Thank you.

Review of Darwin Acute Unit

PLEASE HELP!! My mother, Audrey Davey jan 5th 1934 was admitted on Sept 21st, a week ago. She is now in Darwin Ward, hopefully getting good physical care. My brother ( Harrow) and I ( USA) have spent hours trying unsuccessfully to get through by phone. I called the complaints department last Friday as we cannot get updates information on Mum's condition. She does not have power of attorney or living will. Jill in complaints said that it may be possible to get mum to verbally assign this to my brother, Russell Davey. We have not heard back on this. The web site reads that the patient is allowed to get help calling a family member, so I sent a message through " letters to your loved one/ healthy vibes. This was delivered yesterday and I just sent another one. How can a patient heal if the system denies access to their family to call? I can only imagine how scared, lonely and abandoned she must feel. This is absolutely excruciating. PLEASE HELP US TO COMMUNICATE WITH OUR MOTHER The web site reads that the patient is allowed to ask for help phoning her son, so

Review of Jacks Place
26th September 2021

Majority of staff pleasant and helpful. One staff member in particular (unsure of name!). But was a senior nurse on night duty (25/09) at Jacks Place. She was the only nurse who explained everything in detail and was so gentle and delicate with my son putting him at ease and helping to put him back to sleep each time after she had given him nebuliser. I really feel she helped speed up his recovery. Many thanks to her

Review of Ambulatory Care
23rd September 2021

The wait was very long for blood test results and also subsequently for pharmacy dispense but, otherwise, the service in Ambulatory Care was generally good

Staff engagement could have been much better when I attended X-Ray for a head scan. The two members of staff briefly introduced themselves to me and I was asked to lie on the bed at the end of the scanner. They then didn't say another word to me until the scan was complete. There was no explanation given to me about the process... how the scanner operated, how long it would take or generally what I could expect to experience. This compares poorly with my previous experience of having a brain scan at NPH about 3 years ago when staff were far more engaged and supportive.

Very good interaction with the professional . Even in these Covid times I was treated with care & the unit was safe hygienically. The specialist was considerate and took an interest in my well being & patiently discussed all that was necessary.
